Physics with Deepak Kumar

Physics doesn’t have to be confusing.

I teach students to understand the physics behind the equations, build a problem-solving method they can rely on, and walk into demanding international examinations knowing what to do with an unfamiliar question.

Current focus

IB Physics · AP Physics

A Level, WACE and Singapore O Level are also taught, on the courses page.

Who this is for

Wherever you are with physics, we start there

  1. 01

“Honestly, I’m just confused. I need someone to help me make sense of physics from the ground up.”

  2. 02

“I know the formulas. I just don’t know which one to use or how I’m supposed to know.”

  3. 03

“I understand the topic, but when the question changes slightly, I don’t know how to apply what I’ve learned.”

  4. 04

“I understand the concepts. I just want harder problems to build speed, accuracy, and confidence.”

The method

How we learn to apply Physics

  1. 01

    Understand

Identify what is given, what is being asked, and any conditions or constraints that define the situation.

  2. 02

    Visualize

Turn the words into Physics using diagrams, free-body diagrams, graphs, ray diagrams, circuits, or other useful representations.

  3. 03

    Apply

Identify the physical principle, then choose the law or equation that actually fits the situation—not simply one containing familiar variables.

  4. 04

    Solve

Work systematically through the unknowns, checking signs, units, directions, assumptions, and whether the final answer makes physical sense.

  5. 05

    Master

Repeat the framework until individual concepts become secure, then progress to complex problems combining multiple concepts or topics.

Current curriculum focus

IB Physics and AP Physics

Each syllabus is treated on its own terms: its command language, its assessment structure and its standard for a strong answer.

IB Physics

Standard and Higher Level, taught around the three papers and the internal assessment.

AP Physics

Algebra-based and calculus-based courses, with attention to the reasoning the free-response section asks for.

Three things I give my own students: find your gaps, learn to read the question, then use the formula sheet properly. Each one fixes a specific reason marks get lost.

IB Physics Ultimate Conceptual Checklist

A complete SL + HL revision tracker designed to help you see exactly where you stand. Every concept is broken down across Recall, Apply and Transfer, so you can tell the difference between simply recognising a topic and actually being able to use it in unfamiliar exam questions.

IB Physics Exam Decoder

IB Physics questions often hide the most important information in the wording. The Exam Decoder helps you identify what terms like constant, elastic, negligible, isolated, uniform, or equilibrium are really telling you about the physics before you even start calculating.

IB Physics Data Booklet on Steroids

The official data booklet gives you the equations. This one helps you understand and use them. The Data Booklet on Steroids adds clear variable definitions, useful relationships, conditions, diagrams, reminders, and extra formulas that make the booklet far more practical during revision and problem solving.

The teacher

Hi, I’m Deepak.

I’ve been teaching physics since 2019, and STUCK IN PHYSICS is my attempt to build the kind of physics learning environment I wish more students had access to.

I teach students to see the physical situation before reaching for an equation. That approach was shaped by years of teaching IB, AP, A Level, WACE and Singapore O Level Physics — and this is where I turn it into lessons, resources and a method you can use when a question is unfamiliar.

  • Why students get stuck in physics

Being stuck in physics is usually a sign of a missing physical picture, not a missing formula. Here is how that happens and what to do about it.
